Shikamaru has been found useful by many players just for his Ninjutsu ability.
Although his Ninjutsu has a high cost of 6 Chakra it is arguably the best immobilizer in the game currently. It has a 85% chance to immobilize the enemy for two turns which is very useful for raid boss events.
He is a long ranged character so can hit many enemies at once but his stats are not that high.
He is a Wisdom type character so he isn't bad against any enemy either. He would be a useful character to have for the more difficult events.
